A `pilot' in the sense of computer viruses might be an appropriate term for a technique that could become common in the future. At least, that's one conclusion that might be drawn from the virus whose author named it `Pilot'. (In fact, the virus author named it `PiLoT', intending to refer to the PLT, as explained below.)
